Presentation College hosted Gaelcholáiste Ceatharlach in an u16 league match – up last week.
The Carlow Town Derby got off to an exciting start, with Jonah O Duinn getting his name on the scoresheet early, while the Presentation were slow off the mark. A handful of frees, gave Gaelcholáiste a healthy lead, with a goal from Fiachra Ma Giollaphádraig just before half time putting them in a good position for the second half. As the second half got underway, the Pres came into the game a little more, picking up a few scores to keep Gaelcholáiste within reach. Gaelcholáiste’s hard working attitude was optimized by Rory Ó Géaráin and Evan Ó Corráin. Gaelcholáiste retained a substantial lead all the way to the final whistle, with the game finishing 1 – 18 to 0 – 8 to Gaelcholáiste.
The following Monday, Gaelcholáiste’s senior team went head to head against favourites Knockbeg College. Gaelcholáiste surprised Knockbeg with a couple of early goals from Hugh O Dubhlaoich and Andrew Lewis. As Knockbeg got themselves into the game, they scored two goals, which were disappointing from Gaelcholáiste’s point of few. The second half was a closer affair, with Knockbeg College clawing their way back to close the gap. Despite this, Gaelcholáiste saw the game out, clinching a tight win by a margin of two points.
