Mock Trials – Public Access Law
Our budding lawyers battled it out in the Criminal Courts of Justice last Saturday for the annual Mock Trial competition for secondary school students organised by the Public Access Law organisation. Students from 32 different schools attended. This was Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach’s first time competing in the competition, and for our first entry in this competition we competed well.
The day began fantastically with Niamh and Ruairí winning their first case of the day. This was the first of their two cases that day. Unfortunately however they not as lucky in their second case and the win went to the other team.
The final case of the day, advocated for prosecution by Bebhinn and Maitiú, was close in points. The case, while entertaining, was won by the opposing team in both points and getting the verdict.
All in all, the day was enjoyable experience and interesting despite our losses. Better luck next year.
