It was a mild blustery day in St.Marys Rugby Football Club as Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach took on Maistir O Ciardubháin’s Alma Mater St.Benildas of Dublin for the Leinster Junior Development Cup title.

Playing downhill and with the wind G.C.C. scored first through Ciaran O Tiomàin , the conversion was missed. After some great play around the middle of the pitch Milo Ó Fiacháin went in under the posts after he took a lovely line straight through the heart of the Benildas defence , this try was converted . St.Benildas were threatening in attack and quickly responded with two tries just before half time , both conversions were missed and it left a 12-10 score to G.C.C. at the break .

The Carlow side were ready for the challenge of the second half playing up hill and into the wind . They got off to a great start after Fiachra Ó Scolaí made a superb run up the left wing to score underneath the posts , converted once again . G.C.C seemed to be in the driving seat at this stage but a lapse in concentration saw  St.Benildas go ahead after scoring two tries , one converted . This left the score at 19-22 in favour of the Dublin side . With ten minutes left on the clock Gaelcholáiste spread it wide and after a great offload from Stan Harland , Kaelum Mac Laithimh sprinted 80 meters to score right in the corner , converted one again by Fiachra Mac Giollaphádraig putting the Carlow side ahead on a scoreline of 26-22 . Gaelcholáiste held onto possession and in the last play of the game a cross-field kick saw Evan Ó Guaire Mac Eochaidh touch down for his 15th try of the campaign. Sam Ó hOgáin narrowly missed the conversion but G.C.C had enough already done winning on a scoreline of 31-22
